Staying Healthy when Stressed

At TAPA Institute, we try our best to make sure our clients are happy and healthy when preparing for their certification exams. Our tutoring service focuses on teaching our clients the necessary material they must learn while also teaching them techniques to de-stress. When stress occurs, cortisol levels in the human body increase at varying rates in different individuals. To combat these heightened cortisol levels in attempt to keep stress under control, stress management techniques are very important.

Some stress management techniques to control the level of cortisol in your body are:

1.      Breathing exercises

When an individual is stressed or anxious, their breathing pattern often changes causing them to take short and shallow breaths. To avoid this, and help your body relax, one should focus on taking longer, deeper breaths.

2.      Journaling

If you are someone who enjoys writing, or even if you aren’t, journaling can help you to de-stress. Writing about your emotions and feelings can help you regain some control of your feelings.

3.      Listening to music

It has been shown that music can greatly affect our moods as human beings. Songs with more upbeat tempos can help us to feel happier and more positive, while songs with slower tempos can help us to calm down and relax.

4.      Meditation

One of the stress management techniques we share with all of our clients here at TAPA Institute is transcendental meditation. By closing your eyes and breathing deeply while repeating a mantra to yourself for 10-20 minutes, you can perform this form of meditation.

These are just some techniques that can be useful to control stress. If you find yourself stressed out often, finding a couple techniques that help you to de-stress would be very helpful for both your physical and mental health. We here at TAPA Institute recognize this and that is why we focus so much on keeping our clients as stress free as possible as they tackle their certification exams.
