Five reasons why my students pass their certification exams - part 1: They follow a “personalized” study plan

1.      They follow a Personalized Study Plan

Certification exams are used to determine an individual's proficiency and competency in a particular subject. There are many different fields with popular certifications - accounting (CIA, CPA), healthcare (NCLEX), human resources (PHR, SRHM), technology (A+, CCNA), and project management (PMP).  Certification achievement not only can advance your career path at work, but may boost your salary, help you land promotions and set you apart from the competition.  Helping people pass a certification exam is our reputation at TAPA Institute.

One of the great things about people is that there are no two alike. Variety is the spice of life, after all. Unfortunately, this makes it difficult to develop an approach for taking certification exams that will be successful for everyone.  Each candidate comes to the table with a unique set of skills and perspective. For example, maybe you are fresh out of college, switching careers, meeting a job requirement or just trying to be the best.  On a personal level, you could be single, married, “it’s complicated”, a parent, employed or unemployed. All these factors affect your plan.

The TAPA Institute approach is to use these particulars to develop the ideal approach for each student.  How?

- We have personal discussions at intake to identify specific study options for each candidate.

- We select the content provider, the hours per day, days per week and key learning objectives.

- The appropriate plan is created to ensure the best learning approach for each candidate (more about this in Part 2).

- A partnership is established with each candidate and we ask for a commitment from the student to follow the study plan for the duration.

In the next section of this series we will talk about how we make sure that the way the student is learning is the best approach for them.
